As far as designer fashion accessories go, things are always changing. The newest accessory that first popped up in the fall is now seeing it’s way into spring. The infinity scarf, also referred to as the eternity scarf, is all over the place. Both high designer retail stores and budget conscious clothing stores are carrying some variation of these scarves. They are essentially a scarf that never ends, it’s just one continuous loop.
Most people have gravitated toward the infinity scarf because it means less of a hassle. The scarf will never slide off your neck or come peeking out the bottom of a coat. It can be easily wrapped a number of ways, whether loosely just for looks or a few times for warmth. And the material ranges from heavy knit or wool for the winter to now light materials like cashmere and cotton for the spring. Patterns are as endless as the scarves themselves, which makes them a very bold accessory.
But what a lot of people don’t realize is the right scarf can be styled more than just around the neck. An infinity scarf has a lot of options. One popular way to wear it is as a hooded scarf. You can wrap the scarf around your neck once, then take the back of it and bring it over the head and wear it like a hood. This is great if you feel that your head or ears are getting chilly, or even add some sunglasses for a very glam 1940s movie star look.
It can also be worn as a shawl. You take the scarf and unfold it completely, then bring it behind you and place your arms through and let it rest on your shoulders. If the scarf is a little too loose this way, you can always pin it at the front with a brooch to keep it in place and give it a more fitted look.
Infinity scarves can also be used as regular clothing. They can be easily transformed into a skirt or dress. Just make sure the material is thick enough to not be see through or consider a slip underneath. As a skirt, you can fold the scarf in half, wrap it around your waist, and belt it to stay put. A dress is similar as well. Fold it however you like (you can really vary the hemline of the dress depending on how you fold it) and belt it in the middle.
The infinity scarf is so versatile it’s worth purchasing for the upcoming spring season. You’ll find a ton of different ways to wear it that will make this accessory more than worth the price.
